A psychiatrist-supervised option for depression that hasn't responded to standard treatment — administered and monitored on-site at Haven.
Book a ConsultationQuick Answer
Haven Wellness offers Spravato (esketamine) nasal spray for adults with treatment-resistant depression, used alongside an oral antidepressant and directed by our board-certified psychiatrists. Because Spravato is a controlled, FDA-monitored program, every dose is self-administered in our office under direct clinical observation — it is never a take-home medication. A psychiatric evaluation is required first to confirm you're an appropriate candidate.
What Is Spravato?
A Different Path When Standard Antidepressants Haven't Worked
Spravato (esketamine) is an FDA-approved nasal spray for adults with treatment-resistant depression and for depressive symptoms with suicidal thoughts or actions, used in conjunction with an oral antidepressant. It works differently than traditional antidepressants, targeting the brain's glutamate system rather than serotonin alone.
Because of its potential for sedation, dissociation, and blood pressure changes, the FDA requires Spravato to be dispensed and administered only at a certified treatment center under direct observation — it cannot be prescribed for home use. Haven's clinical team walks you through every step of that process.
Haven's board-certified psychiatrists first confirm whether Spravato — or another ketamine-based option under medical supervision — is appropriate for your history before any treatment begins.

Questions
Spravato & Ketamine Treatment FAQ
Who is Spravato for?
Spravato is FDA-approved for adults with treatment-resistant depression (depression that has not responded to at least two other antidepressants) and for depressive symptoms with suicidal thoughts or actions, always used with an oral antidepressant. A psychiatric evaluation determines whether it's appropriate for you.
Can I take Spravato home?
No. Spravato carries an FDA risk mitigation requirement — it is only dispensed and self-administered at a certified treatment center, with direct clinical observation and monitoring for at least two hours after each dose. Haven follows this REMS protocol for every patient.
Is Spravato the same as ketamine used elsewhere?
Spravato is the FDA-approved esketamine formulation. Other ketamine-based options exist, but Haven's psychiatrists determine which approach, if any, fits your diagnosis, safety profile, and treatment history — nothing is offered outside clinical guidelines.
Can I drive myself home after treatment?
No. Because of possible sedation, dissociation, or dizziness, you must arrange a driver in advance for every treatment day. You should not drive or operate machinery until the next day after a good night's sleep.
How is this different from my current antidepressant?
Spravato targets a different brain pathway (glutamate/NMDA) than typical antidepressants and is given in-office rather than daily at home. It is intended as an addition to, not a replacement for, your ongoing antidepressant and psychiatric care.
